DEMON HUNTER
My friend wrote a book set in a gothic steampunk, post-apocalyptic world, where bands of demon and vampire hunters roam lands ravaged by satan’s tools. He requested several commissions from me, and this one is by far my favorite.
The main character is a woman, a demon hunter, standing atop piles of demons that attacked her. Drawn digitally in Krita, and inspired by Frank Frazetta, this piece is his book's cover.
I used a triangular composition to draw attention to the woman in the foreground, with the viewer’s eye then moving down to the bodies beneath her. Each demon took an immense amount of time to draw, as I focused on telling the story of what happened to each one—what they were doing, how they were struck, and their final moments. Morbid, yes, but necessary for the commission.
